SCA Coffee Skills Program in Dubai & Abu Dhabi

The pandemic going on for almost the last two years in the United Arab Emirates has brought some businesses to a closure. The company in industrial coffee is no exception, where some coffee shops and roasteries, both commercial and specialty, do not extend their business. However, with support from the government as policymakers, not a few have bounced back and reopened their businesses, either from old brands or releasing new brands, especially in specialty coffee.

Urbanised Coffee admires some coffee activists who continue to learn; despite the pandemic, society should be resilient with the current uncertain situation. Through the Coffee Skills Program provided by the Specialty Coffee Association, Urbanised Coffee and coffee professionals in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have successfully conducted training and assessments for CSP Introduction to Coffee, CSP Green Coffee, CSP Roasting, and CSP Sensory Skills through the foundation level.

The training and assessment activities took place in three periods: Dubai in June and Abu Dhabi in July and August. The participants' enthusiasm was greatly admired by Urbanised Coffee, where the majority were Coffee Professionals from Indonesia who worked in the coffee industry for the last 2 – 5 years in the United Arab Emirates. And all of them have passed an online assessment with AST Kurniawan Arif Maspul as a proctor; the pleasure and celebration of course, with the graduation of professional coffee students.
